FOR THE OFFICE OF VICE-PRESIDENT

BRETT BACKHAUS, WORTH CCB
Hello, I am Brett Backhaus from Worth County, and I am seeking the position of Vice-President. I come from a lifelong agricultural background with my education and careers I have had, and currently still have. I am a lifelong resident of Worth County, with my big move being 3 miles from the family farm. After 7 years of work at the local Co-op elevator and farming after college, I was sought out by the Conservation Board to apply at Worth County for the #2 position, Operations Manager/ Maintenance Supervisor, as they felt lost with trying to replace the former employee. Since September of 2002, I have put my blood, sweat, time, and talents into Worth County Conservation, along with my farming operation and seed sales, and I am very proud what I have been able to build into this program over the years.
I currently serve as 2nd Assistant Chief of Northwood Volunteer Fire Company, with great pride.
Volunteering for service, and doing the job to fullest extent, is something that my respected members above me have done so well in the past. My former Director Dean Mueller, Retired Director Bob Etzel, and Tom Hazelton, among others, have built the foundation of this organization to where we stand today, and although I am probably one of the busiest candidates for position, I will be the most dedicated. I owe that to these people to try to carry out their legacy.
I am a member of the great District 2, and have gladly served officer positions in the organization.
I have been on Winterfest planning committee for many years, and I work at a lot of the behind the scenes jobs and helped to build the vendor program to what we have today. Thankfully, their financial support helps us to be able to host such a great event. My proudest moment of Winterfest committee was bringing Dr. David Griffith in as a keynote to speak about the Charleston 9 fire. I hope he has moved you as much as I have been in the couple times I have heard him present.
Thanks for your consideration, Brett Backhaus

IACCBE REPRESENTATIVE TO THE ICCS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

BRAD MORMANN, JONES CCB
I grew up in the countryside of Northeast Iowa spending much of my time outdoors tending to our family farm, and fishing and hunting. I graduated from Iowa State University with a BA in Animal Ecology and from Missouri State University with a MS in Biology.
Having worked for several organizations in Iowa and Missouri during my career has given me a diversity of private corporation and governmental experience. I hope to utilize this experience, in addition to my time as an IACCBE Winterfest committee member and Jones County Conservation Director, to further enhance Iowa’s County Conservation System.
